Testing SMS Sign-Up Flows Across Countries

If your product verifies users by SMS, you need to know that codes actually arrive, in every country you support. Keeping a drawer of physical SIM cards doesn't scale.

What to test

Check that the code arrives, how long it takes, that the message text reads well in each language, that expired codes are rejected, and that resending works.

Using temporary numbers

Buy a number in the country you're testing, run your sign-up flow, and watch the code appear. Because each number is single-use, every test starts clean.

Automating it

With an API key, you can request numbers and read codes from your test scripts, so SMS checks run alongside the rest of your test suite.

Keep it legitimate

Only test products you own or are authorized to test. Using numbers to create fake accounts on other services is not allowed.
